February 20, 2012 - Ok, ok...guilty! I was planning to post more frequently here, but again I find time whizzing past me! We are actually going to get the keys to the new place tomorrow! We will be moving tables and furniture in on Thursday I think. They painted the floors in the studio areas (gotta have those cement floors for the torches), and the paint has to dry for at least 24 hours before we can put furniture on it. So much to do, but so exciting to be doing it! I made some very cool beads tonight (I hope)! Lol, still can't really know what I will have until they come out of the kiln. Because I hardly ever use the same glass combination, I never know the reaction I will find - which I love of course! I made some will metallic black tonight. This glass has a wonderful reaction when overworked in the flame, it bubbles and creates some unusual texture and colors like coppery, bronze matte surfaces. Also, perhaps you've noticed, I have not had any silver foil for the past couple of months in my beads. I did order some and you will be seeing more of it in my upcoming designs. I vascillate between liking and not liking silver wire. I really think it is not compatible with glass because it creates these little gas bubbles which sometime expand as the glass is cooling which causes the bead to crack. Now, a few years ago, it didn't bother me to throw a few beads away out of a batch...but it really bothers me to have to throw beads out now. Guess I'm getting to the point in my work that I expect more from myself and when a beautiful bead has a crack, I know I went wrong somewhere. Anyway, I like silver foil better because it doesn't create as many problems... and I just got some! I will hopefully be taking some photos of my latest beads and this time will place them in the webstore. It should be by the weekend, but it really depends on what I get involved with with the studio. I hate to keep filling up your email but its probably easier for me to just send a little blurb once I am ready to post. If I owe you beads they will go out in the morning since today was a postal holiday.
February 13, 2012 - Another late night, waiting for my Lunesta to kick in. Feeling very happy for the good karma around me right now. Very appreciative of my great customers and new friends who share the same dream. I'm eager to get moved in to the new place. I've been creating and collecting for quite a while and I expect my home will be practically empty by the time I move everything I want to the new studio, lol. Eager to get back to the torch soon too! I feel very revived in my art and can't wait to put colors together these days! Will be working in the jewelry room tomorrow as I have to finish a group of my bullet beads which will be going to the gun show in March. More later.
February 11, 2012 - Things are moving right along! Our move in date for the studio is March 1, but I envision weeks and weeks of organization prior to our opening. Hopefully the torch and kilns will be the first to set so we can start working our art! I've just posted new beads to the webstore and am working at the torch today!
February 6, 2012 - Well, you guys know I always have something going on - no different today! Would you believe, I think I am about to go in with 2 other artists to lease a storefront with studio space to start a glass co-op! It has long, long been a dream of mine to have a small retail space that I could work out of and it may be coming to fruition right before my very eyes. The possibilities are endless at this point and I just want to shout it out! If all goes as planned, I will post some pics soon!!! Ha ha, Just in time for my 58th birthday!!!
